As the aviation industry faces mounting environmental challenges, collective action and global alignment have never been more critical. Delivered by the CEO of the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI), this keynote reflects on the progress made since the launch of SMI in driving systemic change across industries—particularly in the aviation sector.

This keynote will explore the foundational principles necessary to steer aviation toward a sustainable future, emphasizing the importance of collaboration across sectors, borders, and disciplines. It will highlight key milestones achieved through the initiative’s convening power, including cross-sector partnerships, scalable pilot projects, and policy influence.  As we move from ambition to implementation, this address will underscore the imperative of global coordination, setting the tone for the subsequent panel discussion on uniting international efforts for a sustainable aviation future.

The world of intellectual property (IP) can be a confusing one. In this session we take you through the benefits of IP in terms of obtaining investment, the different IP rights and how they can apply to an example aerospace product, a general IP strategy and some actions you can take now to get yourself investment ready.

The SW Future Flight Innovation Zone (FFIZ) is a project led by Somerset Council and supported by Devon County Council that aims to grow and support the market for future flight technologies across the SW of England. FFIZ brings together a secure eco-system of stakeholders to drive this activity and links into assets for test and demonstration which includes Exeter Airport and iAero in Yeovil. During 2025/26 we will be developing several new projects to accelerate further potential for our demonstration and test areas that will include support with SORA for BVLOS activity as well as piloting activity to drive up the market for the utilisation of drone-tech for sophisticated data capture. Corinne Matthews the Aerospace Sector Lead for Somerset Council and the project lead for FFIZ will provide more detail at the event.

Ultima Forma uses its patented electroforming process for the manufacture of components to aid the transition to net-zero.
Using our CAE tools, three areas will be described;
1) the design of lightweight erosion protection guards for composite leading edges
2) Liquid hydrogen storage, pipes and vacuum containment systems
3) Net shaped PM-HIP components using electroformed cans

Join Fathom in the Accelerator Hub for an interactive demonstration of our Aviation Decarbonisation Model. The model shows how the costs and benefits of different types of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and hydrogen-powered zero-emission flight (ZEF) vary over time, at different levels of decarbonisation and in different scenarios. We will demonstrate how these can change significantly when oil prices, carbon prices, electricity availability and other model inputs change. This short session will highlight the limitations and opportunities associated with each of these fuel types and technologies, as well as what needs to happen to minimise costs and maximise the benefits to industry and society.

With aircraft operations accounting for 98% of total Scope 3 emissions, industry attention has understandably focused on reducing in-flight carbon footprint. Yet the horizon will shift towards the manufacturing process emissions.. Discover how additive manufacturing offers a dual solution—dramatically reducing both operating and supply chain carbon emissions.

In this presentation, AeroDelft will share how a student team can drive innovation in the aviation industry. We’ll highlight our achievements, our goals, and the unique challenges we face as students building a hydrogen-powered aircraft. Our team manager will offer a behind-the-scenes look at how we overcome these challenges and turn ambitious ideas into real-world progress.
